About Our Team

Team 4973: The Gator Gears was founded in 2014 at Gateway High School in San Francisco, California. 

Our mission is to build a supportive community with a strong passion for STEM and creative problem-solving. We are committed to collaboration, innovation, and resilience using an inclusive approach to leadership. Each of our members gets the opportunity to find confidence and self-efficacy as they embark on the next stage of their journey.

Our team competes each year on the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) in the Bay Area. During the off-seasons we participate in off-season competitions such as Team 766: MA Bears Mechanical MA-yhem (rookie competition), and partner with local museums and events to showcase our robot and promote our team, FRC, and STEM to audiences of all age groups.
